NEW FAMILY MEMBER!

So two days ago I got a new Trombone!
YEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS -new trombone dance-
It's a Shire Pro Select model, which means it's some of the highest quality parts of a trombone put together!
Shires also handmake their horns, they have the best quality horns EVER!

I'm still using my Bach 42BL for marching season though! My beautiful babies ^^

Anyways sorry for not updating, been way too busy with Section leadering, which turned out to not only be extremely stressful but extremely rewarding. [of course it's the delayed gratification type]

I am now a member of the Young Artists Symphony, they're pretty cool. I think I'd want to be in CYO... But too late now I guess? Either way...

I'm trying to think less about things that will not help me acheive my goals, like negative thoughts. Productivity is the key to my success, I'm learning a lot!

Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall was absolutly amazing.
The hall in itself was gorgeous.
It was huge, and stretched three levels high, with a gift shop somewhere in between.

the red velvet seats streched far back, filled not quite to the brim with people. After all, it's not like we're Boston symphony or LA philharmonic or anything.

I remember looking up and seeing at the very top the Gold design all along the top of the ceiling...
So beautiful.

And the sound...

it was so resonant. The hall made the sound carry for almost two full seconds after we ended.
I remember after our soundcheck, laughing because of the reverb.
It was amazing, and so surreal.

Upcoming concerts!

Monday, March 30th Festival concert #2 , free admission

Poway Festival, April 1st, 2nd

CARNEGIE HALL, April 5-9th

Easter brass performance, st. paul's lutheran church, TBD

I'm sure I'm missing some .___.

My dream

has always been to read music in color.
think, we could erase half of tempo markings that convey moods if we put it in color.

and colors are natural producers of feelings,
when you see blue, you feel calm or sad.
Red, rage, passion.
yellow, happy.

if we put these notes in colors, it would be a lot easier to understand what mood the composer is trying to convey.

But alas,
it is not eco-friendly.

The Jazz Ensemble

Everyone's trying to find a solution to the Jazz Ensemble continuing

Currently we haven't come up with much, and everyone's really cranky.
The music is in Vince's car, and we have no place to practice
can it sounds like carl isnt interested anymore in directing.

:c this is making me beyond sad.

for those who don't know...
Vince, the director of the Jazz Ensemble got arrested last sunday
he failed to register himself as a sex offender,
and also apprently didn't notify the admins and Mesa college that were using the rooms.

his bail was set at $500,000.

The Telephone Hour

Just one song out of many from Bye Bye Birdie

http://www.youtube.com/kmgima
http://www.youtube.com/HIandMGHTY

my sight and Jason's, filled with songs. See if you can hear me! (:

BYE BYE BIRDIE

Last show was yesterday
I asked my friend Jason to record some songs for me, not any I particularly like
I liked all of the songs, I'll post some pictures too.
It was sad having to erase our markings out of our music books ):

I'm glad I could keep myself busy on Valentine's day.

YAY! week off!
I love 4x4 scheduling (:

Today was Jazz ensemble again
Some people have been removed from or left the ensemble, so we're back to two trombones.
):

But I played bass trombone, it was fun ^^

videos and pictures soon!

In other news

I'm getting a C in APEC
but it's a high C
but regardless, it makes the parents nervous

I didn't go to winter formal
I can think of better things to do,
and my only incentive to go was if there was someone I was going with

Which due to lot's of "Oh, I don't intend on going"s,
led to a total of 0 people

and I'm fine with that.

OH YEAH!
I went to Regina's 16th birthday party
and got this cool shot :D

Music update

Pit orchestra is looking up, we're really starting to get the music down

I've gotten better at sight reading!

and I have Jazz band in a couple of hours.

Marine Science

IS NOT EASY.
AT ALL.

I'm on my third map.
WE ONLY HAVE TO TURN IN ONE.

I keep messing up
so many requirements x___x

but it's fun[ny]

oh well. another one bites the dust.

APEC is gonna be even worse XD

I noticed in the end of the year concert music,
well let me explain first.
I'm librarian of Wind Ensemble
meaning I hold the position of handling ALLLL the music.
organizing, numbering, making sure it's there, checking out.

lots of busy work. i often take full music scores home [talk about a workout]

BACK TO THE POINT!
I noticed in one of the pieces that there's a crazy trombone solo that looks really cool!

... that's at 132 bpm
[ quarter note is roughly twice the speed of a second ]

D:

I CAN DO IT.
I'm first chair, first chairs can do it, right?

I'm supposedly better than last years first chair
or so that first chair tells me
I think he's just being modest (:

I'm excited for this, I need a challenge.
and the frustration is good for me

Hm

So, because our family is watching our money
I'm deciding that I prolly need to choose between joining SDYAS [sd youth artists symphony] or the jazz ensemble.

this is hard D:

Dale sprained his ankle just recently

We were playing a game called man hunt
its similar to hide and go seek, only there are teams of seekers and hiders
we played during the night too, it was super fun!
the area was from a friends house to the park.

well Dale, Emy, and I were sticking together
and Dale got spotted, and hit his ankle while running.

We have today off before Dale and I go back to school
Dale scheduled his classes so he has monday wednesday and friday off
lucky!

back to the old grind tomorrow.

Boys are so silly.

and so indecisive.
Shouldn't life be simple?
I think it should be, to a certain extent.
To me, you love someone or you don't

I like you [maybe even love]. Everything about you, even your faults. We're different, and that's why our relationship was so beautiful.

But you,
you like me
but there are things that you don't like about me,
so you're pulling yourself away from me
you don't like how we're different, so you broke up with me
because you're waiting for someone better to come along
but what if someone doesn't come?
you're terrified, but you can't even tell me.
because you can't trust anyone.

Why fuss over the details?

I really believe that teenagers blow up situations to be so much more than they really are.

Or maybe I oversimplify.

Or perhaps,
it's because I know who I am, and what I stand for.

and if you know who you are and what you stand for,
then things like "heartbreak" won't hurt as much.

Silly boys.

First post!

New blog as of Jan. 24th.
I got this idea from uncle Joe's family blog (:

You don't want to know what I'm thinking anyways.
The teenage mind corrupts in 5th-6th grade. Dale and I calculated it last night at Souplantation.
Mine is just as corrupted, probably more.

Anyways, currently loving Queen - Don't stop me now
Jason Nagata sang this to me once,
it was amazing!

Hooray!
Uyen's coming over with Ryan Lin on Monday! (:
